I've participated in the run for H20 for the last 3 years, but this January I had the opportunity to go to Guatemala to see first hand the impact of our fundraising efforts. We first visited Paracana, the community that the RunForH20 fundraised for last year, and celebrate with them as they were on the brink of getting clean water.
The second community I visited was Talaxcoc, the target community for fundraising this year. The atmosphere was noticeably different. While the people were wonderfully hospitable and gave us the best they had to offer, their living conditions demanded attention. When your daily routine revolves around TRYING to meet a basic need, you cannot focus on much else. The water they journeyed daily to retrieve was dirty and not fit to be consumed.
My hope now is to share their stories and bring awareness and change to the situation. We are incredibly privileged here in North America and having clean water is something we normally take for granted. I urge you to partner with me by making a donation to help the community of Talaxcoc get clean water this year!
