Hi everyone,
Peter and I had the privilege of going to Guatemala for the 4th time last month. This time, we even had three teens join us. We first went to Parrequená (the village we fundraised for last year) and then to Talaxcoc (this year's fundraising target). The target for this year's Run for H2O is $150,000 so that 190 families in Talaxcoc can have water going to their homes. This community is located in a high mountainous area with families so spread out that neighbours could very well be an hour hike away. The main water source is a river at the bottom of the valley and we had the opportunity to hike down with them to help with their weekly clothes washing on the rocks in the river as well as carrying water back up for their daily use. The water from the river or some random water holes do not provide the clean water that you and I would expect from our tap but those are their only options. When the villagers shared their stories, they would describe their struggle to get water 4-5 times a day just for their one day's use and how they get sick often because the water is not clean.
I have been very honored to be part of this movement to give water to one village each year for the past 4 years with Peter, our family and friends. I hope you will join us in this effort by joining the Run under Good Shepherd Team, sponsoring any of us in the team, praying for us or encouraging others to support us.
Thank you for all that you do.
